ABOUT THE BOOK

In the latest edition of The Motorcyclist’s Guide to Scotland  you’ll find all the practical stuff bikers really need: 34 circular routes on the most rewarding and exhilarating roads in Scotland. Each route is shown with turn by turn directions, clear maps, places to stop, things to see, where to eat and where to refuel. There are also reading and music suggestions - just for a bit of extra inspiration while you’re on the road. For those who can spend longer in the saddle, there’s a suggested itinerary for a four-day tour, with each stage linked to the circular routes to make your tour fit your time.

Revised, updated and expanded from the 2018 original, this new edition covers from the Mull of Galloway to Muckle Flugga and from the Butt of Lewis to the banks of the Tweed. Apart from the route and roads, there are chapters on Scotland's contribution to the development of motorbikes; Scotland's greatest motorcycling champions; tips for touring in Scotland; information on finding accommodation; booking ferries;  avoiding midges, and much more besides  - all written from a biker's perspective. There's even a pronunciation guide to help our overseas (and southern) friends to cope with places like Kirkcaldy, Findochty and Finzean.
